+ - The Math Biography Page ´ ¸
Mathematics lies at the core of virtually all aspects of modern life. Unfortunately, mathematics students rarely learn about mathematicians or the history of math. Science students routinely learn about the accomplishments of famous scientists like Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Curie, Pasteur, and Faraday, but high school math students can often name only one mathematician, Euclid. This page is a tribute to all the men and women who contributed to the mathematics we have today.
This page contains the names of the more famous mathematicians, ranging from the 7th century BC to the 19th century AD. Each is found within one of three categories: Geometry, Algebra and Analytic Geometry, and Calculus.
So choose a category and enjoy. Note: If you search the Algebra page you will find out who is most responsible for bringing the variable 'x' into our lives.
